Understanding accreditation
Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation involves the assessment of a healthcare organisation against a set of quality and safety standards. It may be one of the factors to consider before a hospital stay. It does not guarantee individual outcomes, nor does it prove that all treatments are suitable for all patients.
Check the specific healthcare facility
Ask for the hospital’s official name, its address and the site where the procedure will be carried out. A brand may encompass several facilities: a logo on a leaflet does not necessarily mean that each one is covered by the same accreditation.

Check the status, scope and validity of the accreditation with the relevant body. Keep a record of the details provided and the date of verification. Do not confuse membership of a professional body, management system certification and hospital accreditation.
Supplement your checks with specific questions
Who will be performing your operation and what are their qualifications? How are infections and complications managed? Who will be responsible for your follow-up care after you return home? How do you obtain your medical reports, and what costs will you be responsible for?
These questions remain relevant even when the facility holds accreditation. Your choice should also take into account your medical history, the necessary expertise and the continuity of care.
The role of TebbHelp
TebbHelp can help you collate the information provided by a partner and request further details. The presence of a profile on our platform should not be interpreted as JCI accreditation. Any mention of accreditation must correspond to verified information for the facility in question.
